PROMOTED Ombersley defeated previously unbeaten Shrewsbury by eight wickets in the Birmingham and District League Premier Division after dismissing the visitors for 143.

Steve Leach top scored with 47 but Arti Fiaz (3-28) returned the best figures for Ombersley, who were steered to a comfortable win ‑ their first of the season ‑ by Uday Kaul (45 not out) and Worcestershire's Brett D’Oliveira (39no).

Brockhampton are one of the teams yet to get off the mark after they were skittled for just 33 in reply to Walmley’s total of 156.

Walmley were in trouble on 48-6 before a captain’s innings of 52 from Kasir Shah, supported by 18 from James Ayres and 17 from Mark Waugh, lifted them to a competitive total on a seamer-friendly pitch.

In reply, the Herefordshire hosts had no answer to Tom Burton (6-20) and Shozair Ali (4-10), who bowled unchanged to remove Brockhampton for the lowest total recorded at the level for many years.

Kidderminster Victoria joined Walmley at the top of the table following success against Kenilworth Wardens.

Three wickets apiece for Wardens’ Udit Talati and Rajan Bhatti removed Kidderminster for 145 but 3-23 from Nathan Round and 3-26 from Matt Pardoe saw Wardens off for 121, despite a battling 40 from Sitanshu Kotak.

The match between Barnt Green and Knowle and Dorridge saw the visitors scrape home by one wicket after the Worcestershire side scored 252-6 from 50 overs.

Luke Radford (47), Josh Poysden (44) and Andy Sutton (44no) were the pick of the home batsmen.

But a century from skipper Sam Reddish (100) paved the way for a last-wicket stand of 21 between Ben Brookes (37no) and Ben Coley (4no) to take Knowle to victory.

Meanwhile, Worcester secured their second Division Three win of the season, beating hosts Streetly by four wickets after seeing off Worfield by 78 runs the previous weekend.

Worcester’s Liam Weston took 4-30 as Streetly slumped to 126 all out at Briar Avenue before Joe Blight finished unbeaten on 39 for the Norton-based side.

Astwood Bank are the only unbeaten side in Division Three following a narrow two-wicket win over Fordhouses.

Tendai Chisoro scored 58 in a Fordhouses total of 134 but they were undone by 4-19 from Michael Desmond and 3-13 from Dan Thomas.

Aatif Ali took 4-39 for Fordhouses but 40 from skipper Steve Adshead and 34 from Tom Harris took Bank to the top of the table.

Bromsgrove are joint leaders of Division One following a win over Worcestershire rivals Barnards Green.

Ash Newfield (74) and Jayden Levitt (69) registered half-centuries in a Bromsgrove total of 241-8, which proved 17 runs too many for Green.

Nathan Newport (51) and Phil Harris (50) shone but 3-46 from Graeme Whiles proved decisive as Bromsgrove maintained their 100 per cent record.

Eastnor are still to record a win in Division Two as Neil Orton hit 71 in a Tamworth total of 230-9 before the Herefordshire side responded with 191.

Atiq ur-Rehman scored 109 for Eastnor but Tamworth’s Rob Nield stepped up to take 6-40 to clinch the game for the Staffordshire outfit.

Halesowen scored 232-6 at Old Elizabethans with solid middle-order contributions from Jhujar Johal (54), Will Barrett (45) and Wes Griffiths (44) before the Worcester hosts fell 52 runs short.

Skipper Jamie Boyle hit 64 but Halesowen ran out comfortable winners.
