BARNARDS Green enjoyed a winning weekend through their senior sides.

While the first XI beat Leamington by five wickets at North End Lane, the Malvern club’s lower-ranked outfits all enjoyed success of their own.

Green seconds bowled out Berkswell for 143 in Birmingham and District Premier League Division Two South with Monzur Ahmed taking 3-24 alongside Judd Doughty (2-26) and Georgia Hennessy (2-23).

In reply, Faraquat Hussain (3-31) made Green work hard but Georgia Hennessy (24) and captain Elliot Hennessy (38 not out) led them to a two-wicket win on 147-8 with 15 overs left.

The unbeaten third XI remained second in Worcestershire League Division Four after they thrashed local rivals Hanley Castle and Upton by 197 runs.

Green started well through Zack Marsh (25) and Tim Clarke (25) but the major runs came from the middle order of Dan Metcalfe (57) and Graham Baddeley (54).

Tom Clack (22) and Chris Smedley (28) helped take Green’s total to 297 all out in the 50th over.

In reply, Castle were skittled for 100 as Kevin Ratcliffe (3-15) and Matt Brookes (3-35) starred with the ball.

Green’s fourth XI won by 77 runs at Hanley Castle and Upton, who won the toss and fielded.

The visitors reached 215-6 in 45 overs with Adam Greaves (103) top scoring.

In reply, Hanley were bowled out for 138 thanks to Harrison Smith (3-33), Joe Arnold (3-21) and Chris Murphy (3-27) with opener Ewan Finlayson scoring 59.

Green’s Sunday second XI completed the set of wins in the sun at North End Lane in the Worcestershire Club League.

Redditch posted 210-8 in 40 overs but Green chased them down in the 37th thanks to 40 from Monzur Ahmed and 102no from Tanbir Ahmed.

Green previously saw off visitors Martley by five wickets in the Worcestershire League Midweek Knockout Cup after being asked to field first.

Kev Golder bowled Pat Bibby (18) but Dom Jones and Alex Basford upped the rate with a 124-run partnership before the latter holed out to Tim Clarke off Ben Alamutu for 53 off 35 balls to leave Martley on 167-2 with just under three overs left.

Jones fell for 117 from 63 balls, caught off Golder (2-41), in the villagers’ 212-5 from 15 eight-ball overs.

Green captain Jez Clarke (4) started with a boundary but nicked the ball behind just three balls later.

Tim Clarke (9) was caught before Golder and Steve Alamutu helped Green pass 100 in the eighth over. Basford broke the partnership of 92 when he had Steve Alamutu (44) caught out, leaving Green needing 91 off just over five overs.

James Styles (39no) crashed three fours and a six off his first seven deliveries and Golder’s four brought up his 50 off 35 balls.

The runs flowed but Golder fell for 68, including 10 fours and a six.

Metcalfe (7no) struck a six off the final ball of the penultimate over to level the scores before Styles’ single sealed victory.
