OMBERSLEY slipped eight points behind Berkswell after a losing draw at the Birmingham and District Cricket League Premier Division leaders.

In a run-laden affair, Berkswell started with an opening partnership of 115 between Mark Best (115) and Nick James (61).

It was followed by a second-wicket stand of 121 between Best and Chris Whittock (85), which laid the foundations for a total of 322-5 declared from 54.5 overs.

Undaunted, even after the early loss of Nick Hammond, Liam Gwynne (102) and Uday Kaul (146) put together a second-wicket stand of 197 but, once they were separated, Ombersley fell away to finish on 292-7.

Gwynne faced 128 balls and hit 16 boundaries, while Kaul received 137 balls and struck 17 fours and five sixes.

James was the most successful bowler, finishing with 4-45 to earn a winning draw for Berkswell as Ombersley remained in second place.

Kidderminster Victoria earned a welcome win over Herefordshire's Brockhampton by the slender margin of 20 runs.

Nathan Round fired 46 in KVCC’s total of 190 with Brockhampton’s Nick Powell picking up 5-34.

Despite 34 from Callum Stewart and 30 from Powell, Brockhampton were dismissed for 170 with former Worcestershire player Matt Pardoe taking 4-24 for the hosts.

Kenilworth Wardens moved off the bottom of the table with an encouraging five-wicket win over Worcestershire's Barnt Green, who were dismissed for 274.

Green were led by an excellent 122 from Ed Pollock, which included six fours and four sixes.

Next highest scorer was Andy Sutton with 37 and there were four wickets apiece for Udit Talati (4-66) and Sitanshu Kotak (4-75).

Wardens timed their reply superbly, reaching their target in 53.1 overs thanks to an unbeaten 80 from Kotak and 77 from Nick Seager.

Wardens' win takes them above Wolverhampton and within reach of Brockhampton and Dorridge, who lie in the two places above them. The leadership of the Division One table continues to change on a weekly basis as Moseley became the fourth team in five weeks to lead the way.

John Williams (66) and Aadam Din (56) posted half-centuries in Moseley’s total of 232 all out against Malvern's Barnards Green as Andy Ford took 4-53 and George Rhodes 3-58.

In reply, a devastating opening spell from Mark Adair (4-12) saw Green lose their first three wickets without a run on the board and they were eventually dismissed for 136.

Ash Brewer top scored with 29 and Fred Eburah took 3-52 for Moseley, who are three points ahead of Walsall.

Third-placed Smethwick trail Walsall by five points following a nail-biting one-wicket victory over Bromsgrove, despite Ashley Newfield cracking 103 in a total of 246-8.

Tom Hill (85) joined him in a stand of 154 for the fifth wicket, while veteran all-rounder Mo Sheikh finished with 4-49 for Smethwick.

At 142-5, the match could have gone either way but Shakeel Janjua hit 63 from 63 balls to add to 45 from Amitoze Singh to see Smethwick to 234-8.

Navdeep Poonia (10 not out) and Waseem Shah (2no) saw Smethwick over the line by the narrowest of margins with one ball to spare.

Worcester's Old Elizabethans earned a solid victory over rock-bottom Eastnor in Division Two.

Shameer Ahmed (75) and Atiq ur-Rehman (55) recorded half-centuries for the Herefordshire side but Liam Booth nipped in to take 4-33 for OEs.

Eastnor were dismissed for 200 and the total proved no problem for the visitors, who reached 102 before they lost their first wicket.

Damon Gariff (58) and Jamie Boyle (57) set them on their way to a seven-wicket victory.

High-flying Stratford-upon-Avon were held to a losing draw at Worcester but the hosts dropped into the relegation zone with Astwood Bank, Kings Heath and Water Orton.

Steady batting from Ian Cottrill (75no), Mohammed Adeel (53), Bryn Evans (42) and Tyler Ward (40) took Worcester to 256-6 with James Urquhart (4-61) the most successful bowler.

Stratford were staring defeat in the face at 77-5 but 71 from Ben Pigott revived them and they hung on at 220-9 with Fabian Allen taking 3-49.

Astwood Bank’s troubles with the bat continued and they were bowled out for 103 by Whitchurch.

Andrej Jagielski top scored with 28 but a superb spell of 6-33 from Vansh Bajaj and 3-40 from Mohammed Hasnain proved too much for the other members of the home side’s line-up.

Apart from a quickfire 41 by Maz Hasnain, who was the first wicket to fall at 51, Whitchurch also struggled before eventually crawling to 104-7 with Jonathan Summers taking 3-20.
