BARNARDS Green clinched a Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League final place as Worcester Nomads A could only draw with Avoncroft.

They scored 148-3 to beat Cutnall Green (102 all out) by 46 runs and will head to the county finals on April 23.

But whether Barnards Green become Worcester Division One champions depends on the final game between fellow qualifiers Nomads B and their A team.

They powered to 148 through Ryan Tongue (52 not out), Dannie Rees (31no), Andy Ford (27no) and Ash Brewer (24).

In reply Cutnall Green’s response was on course after six overs when on 76.

After Paul Hutchins (37) retired the partnership between Neil Evans (17) and Derek Higgins (10) came to an abrupt end.

Higgins was run out and Rees took a fine catch to dismiss Evans with Cutnall Green all out with an over to spare.

Nomads A (113-3) tied with Avoncroft (113-4).

A rearguard batting display from Nomads' Ben Schiffmann (27no) and Guy Davies (21no) saved them after less effective contributions from the higher order.

Dan Elliot picked up 2-4 in three overs and Josh Cound finished off the top order, having Sean Butler stumped leaving Nomads at 29-3 after five overs.

Avoncroft’s response was littered with run outs but Tom Murray (27no) managed the course as did Elliot (26no) to be reunited for the final over needing 12 to win.

Three were required from the final ball but they only got enough to draw.

In Division Two Martley (133-3) beat WCB Seniors (85-4) by 48 runs to continue their title quest.

Ian Flower (27), James Ganderton (33no) and Pete Gardner (27no) all made it to retirement and back with Martin Sweet adding 22no lower down the order.

Martin Woodward (2-26) picked up wickets in the penultimate over.

The seniors' usually-reliable batting failed to impress though Liz Dean’s useful 15 marked the arrival of the first woman in the league at Worcester.

Both Peter Gurr and Robin Lloyd departed in the third over.

Martin Johnson top scored with 19 before being bowled by Alex Basford.

Simon van Tongeren returned the best figures with 1-12 in three overs.

Current champions Nomads C (122-5) beat Rushwick (78-3) comfortably by 44 runs.

Jamie Oliver again produced the goods with an unbeaten 49 alongside support from Sam Jones (25) and Malcolm Jones (20) who was caught and bowled by Chris Davies.

Rushwick’s reply looked less fragile than of late although they lost Ben Bromage run out for one in the third over.

Nomantha Indima (23) and Stuart Parker (25no) added 46 slowly, only once meeting the required rate of 10-an-over.
