WELLAND kept up their Cheltenham Association League Division Four promotion charge with a 4-1 win at lowly Sherborne Harriers.

The villagers are fourth in the table with games in hand on most of their rivals.

Adam Morse latched onto a through-ball to slot home a 10th-minute opener at Sherborne and Lewis Dixon held off his marker before breaking clear to add the second goal.

Dixon went close with two headers before Tom Soley was inches away from converting Mark Taylor’s freekick.

On the half-hour mark, James Lush was fouled in the box and Ben Pearson coolly buried the penalty.

Tim Lewis and Lush went close in the second period before Morse crossed for Andy Brannelly to finish from close range.

Sherborne showed spirit and were rewarded with a late goal from the edge of the box after Welland failed to clear a free-kick.

  • Ledbury Town fell to third place in West Midlands League Division Two following a postponed game at Team Dudley.
