It's tough going for Malvern
7:40am Wednesday 4th September 2013 in Football
MALVERN Town continued their tough West Midlands League Premier Division start with a 3-0 home defeat to leaders Pegasus Juniors.
The Langland Stadium side are fourth-from-bottom after five defeats from the first six fixtures and just one victory.
But Town deserved better than last weekend’s 6-2 home beating by Sporting Khalsa.
The visitors started well with Malvern keeper Aaron Thomasson tipping over a free-kick and Harry Wickett clearing off the line.
However, in the 19th minute, Sporting earned a corner which was guided into the net by Sam Pearson’s glancing header. Three minutes before the break, Andy Fletcher was ruled to have fouled in the area with Mark Habbershaw scoring the penalty to give Khalsa a 2-0 lead.
Malvern brought on Oliver Endacott and Sean Cooke in the second-half with the changes proving effective.
A minute later, Endacott’s far-post shot was blocked by keeper Craig Radford.
The miss encouraged Sporting to attack and they regained the lead on 73 minutes thanks to Jason Wood.
Khalsa ran away in the last eight minutes as Dan Lloyd, Liam Hughes and Nicky Campbell all fired home.
