HEREFORD United face their date with destiny tomorrow as their Skrill Premier status hangs in the balance.

The fourth-from-bottom Bulls head to Aldershot Town (5.30pm) knowing only a victory, coupled with a Chester defeat to Salisbury, will be enough to keep them in non-league's top-flight.

It has been a torrid season for the cash-strapped club, having avoided two winding-up orders in the High Court, and everything now rests on the Recreation Ground clash.

But Peter Beadle's side make the trip with renewed optimism after being Alfreton Town 3-2 at Edgar Street on Easter Monday.

That was their second win in four matches and striker Michael Rankine, part of the Aldershot squad relegated from the Football League last season, believes that will hold them in good stead.

He said: “We will go to Aldershot and make them fear us. We will give it our all.

“It was a massive boost to beat Alfreton. The mood has completely changed the camp. We dominated the game and showed what we have got.

“I played at the Recreation Ground for two seasons, but we are all at this level for a reason and we should not fear anyone.

“But for me, this season, tomorrow is massive and I don’t want to go down.

“It has been one of the toughest seasons I have known, but it could easily turn if and when we stay up.

“We have given ourselves a chance. It has been a tough season and a lot of things have gone on.

“But we have shown heart and professionalism.

“We have to work hard and, hopefully, Salisbury will do us a favour and we beat Aldershot.

“It could go from being one of the worst seasons to probably the best season I have ever

had. We are all on the same page and we all want the same things – so fingers crossed.”

Hereford kept themselves in the hunt with the Alfreton victory, secured by goals from Kingsley James, Dominic Collins and Jarrod Bowen.

Rankine, who has scored six goals this term, added: "Pete Beadle has put his stamp on things but, if I am honest, I think we have let down Martin Foyle. He didn’t ever tell us to kick the ball long.

“The fans have been brilliant. We will try to do it for ourselves, the fans and the club.”

Aldershot are unbeaten in their last four matches, winning three of them to climb out of the drop-zone.
