Malvern Town reach trophy final
12:00pm Friday 2nd May 2014 in Football
MALVERN Town reached the Smedley Crooke Memorial Trophy final with a 1-0 win at Paget Rangers.
The first-half saw Malvern dominate possession, but Paget enjoyed the best chances.
However, the Midland Combination outfit found Town keeper Charles Weaver in fine form with some tremendous saves.
Malvern made a change at the start of the second-half, bringing on Lewis Platt for Jamie Thomas.
In the 77th minute, Paget were awarded a free-kick which was well saved by Weaver.
Six minutes later, Weaver played the ball upfield to Reynolds, who ran half the length of the pitch and then fired home from an acute angle.
Late on, Lush’s cross eventually dropped for Platt only for his shot to be cleared off the line.
Malvern’s Matt Cole was brought on as substitute, but within 30 seconds was sent off for a two-footed tackle.
Town meet the winners of Pilkington XXX and Bromsgrove Sporting in the final.
