HOSTS Malvern Town powered to a 5-0 friendly victory over a youthful Worcester City side made up of under 21s and academy youngsters.

The Conference North side’s boss Carl Heeley kept his senior players back ahead of tomorrow’s pre-season trip to Barwell.

But the City youngsters suffered a difficult evening at Malvern’s HDanywhere Community Stadium.

The game was closely fought during the opening 45 minutes with just a solitary goal from Town’s Jake Hollylee separating the sides.

However, after the interval, the West Midlands League Premier Division outfit grew in confidence, scoring four further goals to complete the thrashing in front of nearly 300 spectators.

The impressive Matt Turner made it 2-0 to Malvern before prolific striker Dave Reynolds added his side’s third goal with a tremendous finish.

Harry Wickett grabbed the fourth after a tricky run by Turner, who then turned from provider to scorer by converting his second to complete City’s misery.

The new league season kicks off a week on Saturday.
