LEBDURY Town Reserves stormed through to the Herefordshire FA Junior Cup semi-finals with a 9-0 thrashing of Kingstone Rovers.

Phil Preedy and Roly Welch’s side, who reached the Ross Cup semi-finals the previous week, were dominant throughout at New Street.

Town were unlucky not to see their final tally hit double figures as captain Jamie Welch led the way with four goals.

Martin Loveridge grabbed a brace, while defender Marc Wildig produced a strong contender for their goal of the season.

Midfielder Scott Roberts and striker Jamie Gladwin also hit the target with sturdy defender Pat Locke ensuring a clean sheet.

Kingstone could only field 10 players at first and Roberts took advantage by netting after just six minutes.

Loveridge’s 10th-minute strike was deflected into the net by a hapless defender.

The away keeper palmed the ball over to prevent another own goal soon after.

Teenager Elliot Watts was called into action at the other end to make a block in a rare Kingstone attack.

But Welch put his first mark on the scoresheet in the 33rd minute.

Home supporters did not have to wait long in the second period for their side’s fourth goal.

A 30-yard strike out of the blue from Wildig in the 49th minute beat a bemused substitute keeper.

Loveridge added a fifth in the 63rd minute when a close-range shot rebounded off the keeper’s hands to provide him with an easy finish.

Welch then beat the offside trap to strike his second goal past the keeper.

Mitch Preedy supplied Welch, who bagged his hat-trick with another clinical finish in the 68th minute.

Gladwin netted goal number eight and was denied later on by the keeper. But Welch completed the scoring in the 83rd minute after another well-placed cross.

Sloppy play from Colts saw them concede after just a minute.

Veteran Ashley Jones was man-of-the-match for sterling work in defence.

Seventh-placed Colts host Northwood Rangers tomorrow (2.30pm).
