THE Southern League expect Hereford United’s Premier Division match at Dunstable Town to go ahead on Saturday (3pm) despite the Bulls being suspended by the Football Association.

Hereford were banned from all football activity by the sport’s governing body yesterday after failing to comply with the owners’ and directors’ test regulations.

The club’s former majority shareholder, Alan McCarthy, was also banned for non-compliance with the Independent Regulatory Commission.

Chairman Andy Lonsdale has been unveiled as the new owner and believed the ban would be lifted, citing an administration error.

The Edgar Street club remain under suspension but, according to the Southern League, that is expected to change before the match.

A statement from the league said: “Following communication with the club and the FA, the league does not envisage an issue with the league match taking place on Saturday.”

If the match does take place, United will be looking to return to winning ways following three straight defeats, the latest being a 6-0 drubbing at Truro City last Saturday.

That match also saw manager Jon Taylor sent off in the first-half and then dismissed again from behind the dug-out.
