DAN Herbert hit five goals as Ledbury Town Reserves thrashed Bartestree Reserves 6-1 in Herefordshire Football League Division One.
The bottom-of-the-table visitors lost 14-0 at Holme Lacy the previous week and their keeper was put under pressure again.
A fragile defence allowed Herbert, Jamie Welch, midfielder Scott Roberts and defenders Carl Wildig, Pat Locke and Tom Watkins to run amok playing downhill in the second-half.
Herbert’s first goal came after barely a minute, and before he then finished off a rebound when captain Welch struck the bar from 25 yards in the 32nd minute.
He completed his hat-trick in the second period from Wildig’s fine cross.
Herbert was denied by the keeper on 65 minutes but Roberts buried the rebound.
Sam Dunsford’s lob proved a consolation for Bartestree as Herbert hit two more, with Roberts playing a role both times.
Fourth-placed Ledbury visit fellow high-fliers Woofferton on Saturday (2pm).
Ledbury Colts suffered a 3-0 home loss to main Division Three title rivals Dore Valley.
Jamie Gladwin had a penalty saved for Colts, who host mid-table Tupsley on Saturday (2pm).
