RAMPANT Malvern Town defied the traffic chaos on the M5 before hammering Wednesfield 12-0 in West Midlands League Premier Division.

Three goals for Dave Reynolds and two for Ben Hayes and Sam Rathbone earned a 16th league win of the season for sixth-placed Town.

Malvern went ahead inside three minutes when Kirk Layton passed to Hayes, who spun and volleyed the ball into the back of the net.

They had to wait until the 23rd minute for the second goal when Reece King found Lee Hooper and his cross was tapped in by Reynolds.

Five minutes later, Reynolds played the ball to Hayes, who fired home his second goal.

Forward Reynolds fired in a cross to make it 4-0 on 33 minutes and complete the first-half scoring.

The goal avalanche began in the second period on 54 minutes when Hooper converted a penalty after Harry Wickett was fouled in the box.

Dene Whittal-Williams headed in Hooper's cross two minutes later and Rathbone opened his account with a volley from Jake Hollylee's assist just after the hour mark.

In the 63rd minute, Malvern made it 8-0 through Hollylee on the follow-up after several shots had been blocked.

Jack Cullity's corner was headed in by Aaron Richards on 71 minutes and Layton nodded in a flag-kick seven minutes later to reach double figures.

Matters got worse for the hosts when Reynolds completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot a minute from time following a handball offence.

Malvern sealed the 12-0 thrashing in injury-time as Rathbone rifled home Hooper's pass.
