MALVERN Town Wanderers under 15s’ poor away form continued with another below-par display in a 2-0 defeat at Shipston Excelsior.

Both sides struggled to adapt to cold, wet conditions in the Ambassador Evesham League fixture but the hosts were livelier in the first-half.

After 20 minutes, a free-kick from just outside the penalty area flew past Malvern keeper Danny Eyles.

Town’s cause was not helped when Matt Cole slotted the ball home only to be controversially ruled offside.

The second period saw the visitors more competitive in key areas of the pitch but the game was effectively sealed on the hour mark.

An attack down the right was not closed down and a routine finish put the game beyond Malvern.

Meanwhile, Welland Colts under eights played their first match as a team and won 7-0 at Westbury Celtic.

Will Anderson (4), Macauley Martin (2) and Brooke Taylor scored the goals.
