MALVERN Town hit back after going a goal down to beat Shawbury United 3-1 in the West Midlands League Premier Division.

Without suspended midfielder Reece King, the HDanywhere Community Stadium hosts fell behind after only 13 minutes before Aaron Richards, Jack Cullity and Matt Turner scored.

Turner chipped the ball over the bar in only the third minute after running half the length of the pitch.

Shawbury captain Dan Beddows opened the scoring by firing home when a corner was only partially cleared.

Turner fired over again with the goal at his mercy but Malvern levelled in the 20th minute when Richards flicked home Jack Cullity's corner.

Four minutes later, Turner was off target again with a header from Sam Rathbone's left-wing cross.

Rathbone was crowded out in the box just before half-time following another fine run down the flank.

Richards went close to another goal in the second-half but shot straight at the keeper.

However, Malvern went ahead for the first time on 57 minutes when Rathbone pulled the ball back from the left for Cullity to fire home.

Turner missed his kick from a cross by Dave Reynolds, who then was denied by the legs of Shawbury keeper Graeme Hampton.

Turner failed to hit the target again but was eventually rewarded for his hard work, following up to score after Cullity's shot was pushed onto the post by Hampton.

Malvern, who are unbeaten in the last seven league games, just failed to add a fourth goal late on when Turner chipped over.

Meanwhile, Malvern's under 18s beat local rivals Bromyard Town 4-0 to win the Worcester Royal Infirmary Junior Cup.

Jordan Wise, Ash Campbell, Luke Nash and Matt Pritchard scored the goals.

There is derby action at Malvern Town on Saturday when the mid-table under 21s host title-chasing Powick Rangers in West Midlands League Division Two (3pm).
