A CONTROVERSIAL penalty award saw a unique double achieved by Perrywood in the Worcester Nursing Sunday Cup finals.

With their reserves having lifted the Minor Cup, the first team added the Junior Cup to their trophy cabinet with a 1-0 win over Malvern’s The Gloster Arms.

There was early trouble for Arms when Aaron Richards was sent off after 15 minutes for violent conduct.

Just after the interval, Gloster’s Lee Hooper saw his rasping drive turned over by keeper Gavin Podmore but the match was decided at the other end.

As Gloster keeper Michael Cole gathered a high cross, he made contact with Wood’s John Pykett and the referee awarded a penalty.

Pykett buried the spot-kick to clinch the cup for Perrywood.

Malvern Radar’s Premier Division title hopes virtually disappeared after a 7-0 home thrashing by fellow challengers Callow End.

Rob Sinclair fired a treble and Jon Mann a double at Victoria Park.

Jordan Gormley and Pavraj Mudhar gave Malvern Mans a 2-0 home win over Droitwich RBL in Division Three.

Stuart Hill scored for Colwall Village in a 1-1 draw at Korono.

Sam Pead and Simon Smith netted for Powick in a 3-2 defeat at University of Worcester ‘B’ in Division Two.
