MALVERN Town jumped into fifth place by winning their final West Midlands League Premier Division home game of the season.

Les Jones' side beat local rivals Pegasus Juniors 3-0 at the HDanywhere Community Stadium and moved above Shawbury United, who did not play.

Forward Dave Reynolds scored a wonder goal alongside strikes from Lee Hooper and Aaron Richards.

Malvern started brightly and went ahead after 15 minutes when Reynolds crossed for Hooper to slot home.

Six minutes later, another Hooper shot was intercepted by Reynolds but Pegasus keeper Nathan Phillips smothered the shot.

Pegasus had their best chance of the half on 22 minutes when Tom Dawson hit the post and Sam Pearson was denied at point-blank range by keeper Chas Weaver from the rebound.

Reynolds went close at the other end twice more, heading wide from Sam Rathbone's pass and being stopped by Phillips after the keeper had fumbled the ball.

Malvern kept up the pressure in the second period and Kirk Layton nodded just wide after Dene Whittal-Williams headed on Reynolds' cross.

Reynolds continued to be in the thick of the action and left everyone speechless on 62 minutes with a 20-yard volley into the net from the left following Hooper's lay-off.

Rathbone scooped a chance over after another good Malvern move before the hosts grabbed a third goal on 75 minutes.

Reynolds' corner was only cleared to Matt Turner and his low shot into the box was deflected past the keeper by defender Richards.

Meanwhile, the under 21s are unbeaten in three Division Two games, moving up to eighth in the table.

Town drew 2-2 at lowly Wyrley Reserves before beating strugglers Red Star Alma 3-0.

Fifth-placed Powick Rangers were held 1-1 at Bartley Green Illey after going down 3-0 at fellow high-fliers Stafford.

Malvern under 21s host Sikh Hunters and Powick visit Oakengates Athletic on Saturday (both 3pm).

Bromyard Town improved their Division One title prospects with a 1-0 midweek win at Wrens Nest.

The leaders beat basement boys Wyrley 5-1 the previous week with Dorian Colling (3) and Jamie Insall (2) scoring but then fell 1-0 at home to second-placed St Martins.

However, Bromyard head to Worcester Raiders on Saturday (3pm) with a four-point advantage at the top and a game in hand.
