UPTON Town ended a run of three draws with a fine 3-0 win at third-placed Churchdown Panthers.

Town dominated most of the first-half with Pete Jeynes causing problems down the right flank.

He first crossed in for Simon Craddock, but the forward could not direct his header on target.

Jeynes’ cross-shot then hit the underside of the bar.

Fourth-placed Town started slowly in the second-half and keeper Chris Darby saved well one-on-one.

However, a tactical change sparked the game into life as Jeynes was pushed through the centre and opened the scoring.

He charged down the keeper, blocking the clearance and took the ball on to tap into an empty net.

Captain Matt Hindmarsh came close to a second, spotting the keeper off his line from 45 yards, but his effort bounced wide.

However, Hindmarsh added the second moments later, holding off three defenders before smashing home from a tight angle.

Town’s third goal came on 85 minutes after a run by Sam Passey, who covered 25 yards and played a one-two before his shot was turned in by Hindmarsh.

Craddock and Ryan Upfield both had long-range efforts saved late on.

Town host Whaddon United tomorrow in their last game of the season (3pm).
