LEDBURY Town held the presentation evening at their new base of the Brewery Inn after a tough 12 months.

Chairman Paul Mann said the club performed well after the first XI quit West Midlands League Division One due to poor results and lack of funding.

After the club’s cash problems became clear at the start of the year, they had to fold due to heavy debts.

New Street, their home for the last 70 years, was repossessed by Property Solutions Ltd.

The reserves and colts used alternative pitches before being allowed to finish the season back home.

But the second XI, managed by Phil Preedy and Roly Welch, won Herefordshire League Division One, the Ross Cup, the Herefordshire FA Junior Cup and the Burghill Cup.

The colts, led by Richard Thick and Dave Morris, were fourth in Division Three in their first season.

A new memorial shield award from reserves captain Jamie Welch, in memory of his late brother and former player Paul, went to prolific striker Dan Herbert.

Jock and Jill Boyle won a recognition award for dedication behind the scenes.

The club’s annual meeting is at the Legion Hall, Ledbury, on Friday, July 3, from 7.30pm and is open to all past and present players and club supporters.
