WORCESTER City defender Tyler Weir and two former stars are inspiring the revived Colletts Green in the McDonald’s Worcester and District League.

Weir is helping the club’s management team, while former City players Wes Joyce and Darren Bullock are starring on the pitch for the Division Three club.

Joyce has netted 12 goals in just three matches for Green, who face Pillar of Salt tomorrow at Hospital Lane in the Worcestershire FA Minor Cup (10.30am).

In three matches, Green have scored 20 goals and conceded just four.

Joyce grabbed six goals, with Ryan Williams (four) and Gordon Beauchamp (two) also finding the net in Green’s 12-0 league drubbing of Malvern Mans last weekend.

Weir said: “I am just helping out a bit and help to put up the nets and I have got a few Ledbury lads to play.

“It’s good fun on a Sunday morning and we’ve made an excellent start with three wins out of three. I can’t play for the team but Wes Joyce has been in great form with 12 goals.”

Manager Ray Pearce is the man behind Green’s revival and is keen to honour the memory of the late Brian Scott, who he worked closely with at Malvern Town.

Pearce recalled: “Before Brian died, he gave me the chance to manage Malvern Town’s first team. We got relegated but I took us on a cup run and we won the cup. Sadly, a few weeks after winning the cup, Brian died.

“On the day of the cup final we presented Brian with the trophy because he was inspirational to our team.”

He added: “A few years later I chose to revive the legendary Colletts Green, a team who Brian managed years and years ago. I have got his son, Nick, involved in a joint management capacity.

“We have asked Tyler to get involved and he has joined the management team along with former Malvern Town player Rob Gibbons. We have plans to climb the divisions.”
