TWO-goal hero Mike Symons said Hereford never wanted to lose to Salisbury again after the Wiltshire side knocked them out of the FA Trophy.

But Symons and his team-mates have now done the league double over Steve Claridge's side, with yesterday's 4-0 win helping to secure the Southern League Division One South & West title.

"We came here in the Trophy and I thought maybe we didn't perform to our best and we said we wouldn't lose to them again," said Symons.

"We beat them in the league at home and we've come here and I thought we were excellent.

"They didn't really cause us too many problems and we've set the standard now and hopefully we will run all of our remaining games."

Symons did not think the title would be wrapped yesterday.

"We thought it would go to next week, so our main aim was to win at Salisbury and win next Saturday and get it sewn up," he said.

"Obviously at the end of the game everyone thought it might happen and results went our way.

"We've got back-to-back promotions and it's a nice feeling."

Symons said it was nice to get on the scoresheet.

"Apart from the Didcot game, in the last couple of games I haven't got on the scoresheet so it was nice to get a couple of goals and hopefully I can push on and get a couple of more before the end of the season," said Symons.

The Bulls striker also praised the travelling army of Bulls fans who celebrated with the players on the pitch after news filtered through that Taunton had lost at Evesham.

"For 500 fans to travel away is fantastic and our home support is brilliant, 2,500 to 3,000 most games," said Symons.

"It was great for them to come on and experience that.

"They watch us week in, week out and I'm sure they've had a fantastic game."
