HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle says it was in both parties' interests for Jamie Edge to leave the club.

The midfielder was released by the club yesterday after failing to force his way into the starting 11.

"Jamie hasn't become a bad footballer overnight but he didn't quite fit into the system that we want to play," said Beadle.

"He has fantastic pedigree and has played a lot of his football in Conference North and South, as well as Hereford United in the Conference, but there were certain aspects of his game that didn't quite click.

"He came back in really good shape but it hasn't quite clicked for him this season.

"His quality is for all to see and he makes some good passes, but I think he prefers three in the middle of the park rather than two.

"But you can't change the shape to suit one player.

"People need to perform and Jamie knows he was below par.

"But he is a great lad who always trained superbly and I wish him all the best in whatever he decided to do."
