FLYING winger Garyn Preen believes he is now showing Hereford fans what he is capable of.

Preen struggled to make an impact during the first few games of the season, but has kicked on during the past three games.

"I picked up a little knock which set me back a little bit and was unfortunate not to get the run of games I was hoping for," said Preen.

"I agree that my performances weren't up to the standard that they should have been, but I think that in the last three games, I have taken my opportunity.

"We've got a strong squad so there's places to be taken so I can't rest now.

"I've got to keep working hard and getting better by scoring and making goals.

"Ever since I have been playing, my pace has been one of my strongest points.

"I keep working on that and I pride myself on it.

"I like to think that I can beat people for pace and I look to utilise it as much as I can."

Preen scored twice on Tuesday night as Hereford saw off Stratford Town 5-2 to move within four points of top spot in the Southern Premier League table.

"I think we're all starting to gel now and look sharper," added Preen.

"I think you can see that in the last few games and we are a bit more clinical in front of goal.

"We are improving as a team and I think the best is yet to come.

"It was well documented that we had a lot of injuries, but we're now all coming back.

"A few of the boys have been left out of the squad and the competition now is really fierce.

"We know if we don't do as well as we can, we may not be in squad for next week."

Four goals in 10 minutes saw Hereford storm into a 4-0 lead by half-time.

Preen opened the scoring in the 28th minute before Mike McGrath doubled the advantage with another strike from distance.

Preen then added another soon afterwards before Gethin Hill wriggled his way through for number four.

Stratford made things interesting when Ben Stephens and Jazz Luckie netted in the 78th and 81st minutes respectively, but Mike Symons sealed the win four minutes from time.
