JOE Turner scored twice as Malvern Vale won 4-1 at Fintan Reserves in Cheltenham League Division Four.

A scrappy first half saw Fintan go 1-0 up but zippy passes and moves saw Joe Dallow fire a 20-yard screamer over the home keeper.

Vale took control in the second half and Aaron Griffiths crossed for Turner to score.

A fine strike from Ashley Dallow gave Vale a two-goal lead and Turner cut in to fire his second inside the far post.

Richard Morse was man of the match for third-placed Vale who host Winchcombe Town Reserves on Saturday.

Vale Academy won 3-0 at Winchcombe despite being without top scorer Ash Griffiths to extend their league winning streak to 11 games.

Newcomer Toby Boswell looked to be the brightest spark for Vale who took time to find their feet in the game.

On 24 minutes, Gav Hodgkins’ pass was stepped over by Mario Vieira for Cal Hill to run through and slot home.

Five minutes later, Andre Rodrigues did well down the left and his first shot was blocked but the second deflected up off the keeper for Boswell to head in his first Academy goal.

Vale added a third when a neat turn by Boswell saw the attacker tripped and Rodrigues dispatched the penalty into the bottom corner.

Debutant Jake Hurdman was among the subs in the second half. Vale’s Aaron Waldron denied Town with a few last-ditch tackles.

A late home clearance deflected off the back of Vale player-manager Dev Ward and looped just over the bar.

Second-placed Vale go to Bishops Cleeve Development Reserves on Saturday.

Hanley Swan lost 3-1 at Southside Star in Division Two after playing most of the game with 10 men.

Kevin Moore fired just wide while at the other end Mark Amott cleared off the line.

Hanley went ahead after 15 minutes when Chris Bunn fired into the bottom corner from Luke Duffett’s pass.

Cathal McTernan and Bunn went close but Hanley gifted Southside an equaliser.

Hanley were reduced to 10 men with Bunn sent off for retaliation before Southside went ahead.

The hosts went 3-1 up with Jack Humphreys, Moore and Jackson McMullen trying to reducing the deficit.

Hanley host Cheltenham Civil Service Reserves on Saturday (3pm).
