Malvern Town Wanderers Colts u12s 2, St John’s Colts Athletic u12s 7.
MALVERN Town Wanderers Colts suffered defeat to St John’s Colts Athletic in Mercian Festival Junior League Division Two.
It was well into the game before St John’s scored but Malvern replied when James McDermott cut in from the left to set up Josh Senter for the equaliser.
Ryan Cowell in the Malvern goal made a string of fine saves before St John’s scored twice before the break.
In the second-half, Malvern had a number of chances but failed to make their possession count and were hit on the break, conceding goals on the counter-attack.
Malvern never gave up and Billy Coleman had a fine run before firing over the crossbar.
There was then a great exchange of passes between Megan Jones and Jordan Roan before the former crossed to Billy Coleman who scored from close range.
Ross Juniors u13s 5, Ledbury Swifts Rovers u13s 3.
LEDBURY Swifts Rovers travelled to Ross and lost their unbeaten start to the season with a mixed performance.
Ledbury started brightly, putting Ross Juniors under pressure, and it was no surprise when Charlie Ayland latched onto a cross to put the visitors in front.
The lead was soon doubled when Ayland neatly dribbled around the home defence to strike home.
Swifts were now driving forward at every opportunity and their lead increased just before half-time.
A cross was poked home by the home defence to make it 3-0.
After the break, Ledbury started brightly and created several chances but would pay for not being clinical in front of goal in the early exchanges.
Ross created two chances but, unlike the visitors, both were finished to close the deficit.
Ross were in the ascendancy and, after another run and neat finish, the comeback was complete.
In the final minutes, both sides strived for victory, but it was the hosts who struck first with a speculative effort from long range.
This was soon followed by a defensive mix-up gifting Ross a fifth just before the final whistle.
