Derbies first for Town
2:30pm Monday 23rd July 2012 in Football
MALVERN Town Football Club kicked off their pre-season programme with back-to-back games against Ledbury Town.
The Langland Stadium side hosedt their rivals in a doubleheader, at 2pm and then 4pm, in order to give 90 minutes to all of their 18-man squad.
Malvern then travel to Evesham United’s new Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium on Tuesday (7.45pm).
Manager Les Jones is keen for his players to get as much match practice as they can before the West Midlands League Premier Division campaign gets under way on Saturday, August 4.
He has retained the bulk of last season’s squad as well as signing former Kidderminster Harriers youth team midfielder Louis Loader and ex-Bromyard Town defender Gareth Mc- Carthy.
“Saturday is purely to give game-time to all the players,”
Jones said.
“We won’t get any indications as to how people are going to play come the season, it’s part of the build-up for the first league game.”
