MALVERN Hills Buzzards kept up their Worcester Basketball League title hunt with a 78-64 win over Bromsgrove Blaze.
Kieran Henry-Fellowes scored 32 points, including six from beyond the arc, to lift Buzzards to second and inflict a first defeat of the season on Blaze.
The top-of-the-table clash went the way of Worcester Bears 63-56, despite Worcester Orillo leading for three quarters of the match.
Buzzards boast an impressive record of six wins and one loss as they host their final game of the season on Friday night against Bromsgrove Bears at Malvern's Dyson Perrins Academy (8.45pm).
The new league started in February to bring teams from across Worcestershire together.
Hosted and managed by Orillo’s captain Anthony Duggan, nine sides signed up and faced each other with four home games and four away.
Buzzards came together following open sessions at Dyson Perrins on Tuesdays and Fridays.
They began the season well, defeating Kidderminster Hawks in their first game before also seeing off Orillo and Redditch Regents.
As the season progressed, Malvern quickly emerged as a strong contender for the title.
Led by coach and star player Jacek Gibalski, Buzzards have improved their performances over the weeks.
The club are hoping to promote the increasing interest of basketball in Malvern and gain more attention from local authorities and businesses.
