THE Worcestershire's ladies and men played their July medals with Di Wilde and Dave Jones taking the honours respectively.

Division One’s Wilde had the best run of holes in her life in the ladies' competition in Malvern Wells.

Playing off a handicap of 17, she holed every putt on the front nine to record a gross 36, which included six pars and a birdie.

Unable to maintain such an exceptional standard on the back nine, she nevertheless recorded a nett 71 for the round to win the competition by two clear strokes from Jackie Marks and Lucy Walton, who were both on nett 73.

Tina Jukes took Division Two with 76 ahead of Margaret Duncan (77) and Lisa Digings (79), while Isobel Carmichael claimed Division Three with 79 in front of Maureen Riley.

Division One’s Jones took the men’s medal by two clear strokes. Playing off a handicap of nine, he carded a nett 67, ahead of Richard Sebok (handicap 7 nett 69) and Phil Dance (4-70).

Peter McNeil (14-69) secured Division Two ahead of Derry Hanratty (15-71) and Peter Jolley (17-72).

There was a scrap for honours in Division Three with the first three returning 70.

Mike Bolton (handicap 20) won on count-back from Vic Hammond (18) and David Bray (25).

The men’s mid-week stableford saw a win for Gary Lynes with 39 points off a handicap of 10.

Following him in Division One were Mark Groves (handicap 10) and Gary Godwin (12), both with 36.

Division Two's Trevor Simmons carded 38 off 22 ahead of Simon Penrhyn (17-35) and Malcolm Garner (23-33).

In the ladies' Droitwich Inter-Club League match play, 24 clubs contested four divisions.

Division Four was close but The Worcestershire beat Kidderminster to the last four with the better individual scores. They now face Droitwich at Bromsgrove.

Faith Tubb’s lady captain’s away day at Bromsgrove was well supported.

Jen Bishop, Elsie Kelsall and Sharon Williams won with 80 stableford points ahead of Pat Rose, Jenni Nions and Margaret Duncan (78) and Jane Tromans, Joan Haworth and Jill Mico (74).

Esme Davy won the nine-hole competition.

A good turn-out contested the Past Captains’ Lowe Cup.
