MALVERN Joggers’ members produced fine runs at the popular Upton Bishop Big Dipper race.

The 10km Herefordshire route followed quiet country lanes with views as far as the Malvern Hills.

Joggers were led home by the third-placed Jon Newey in 39 minutes 25 seconds.

Megan Judge won the women’s category in 43.47 and her club-mates helped Malvern win the female team prize.

Julie Mitchell was first women’s veteran over 40 in 49.50 and Kareen Mann first over 50 in 50.56.

Other Joggers times in the championship league race were by Ben Toon (43.47), Trevor Matty (44.50), Daniel Badger (46.37), John Bryan (50.05), Julie Caseley (50.59), Steve Roode (51.48), Amanda Duncan (54.02), Chris Jolley (54.04), Mike Anstey (57.50), Glyn Davies (58.27), Chris Barker (58.41), Lynda Broadway (59.58) and Emma McCance (one hour two minutes 53 seconds).

Seventy-three runners ran the Big Dipper, which started in 2006.

An additional loop passing the village church extended the course to a full 10km.

With little flat and a few steep sections, it was not a course to attempt a personal best, especially on a warm autumn day.

The final family of four crossed the finishing line in 1.27.0.

Andrew Stephens, of Monross Trailblazers, won in 38.26 followed by local 16-year-old Felix Rusby in 38.40.

Behind Judge in the women’s race were Claire Bunce, of Redrose Runners, in 44.39 and Belinda Tull, of Reading Roadrunners, in 44.46.
