THE County Air Ambulance was called to Bransford Golf Club after a player fell during the senior section’s monthly stableford.

Eddie Williams slipped on a wet grass bank and sustained a head injury after landing on a club he was holding at the time.

The following group, including Dr Richard Holding, went to his aid and called an ambulance.

As the accident occurred far from the clubhouse and road access, the Air Ambulance was alerted and landed on the fourth fairway.

But, shortly before it arrived, two paramedics drove up to the tee on a golf buggy and Williams was taken to hospital by road to be checked out.

He was not seriously hurt and returned home later in the day, heading back to the course for a competition later in the week.

The monthly stableford was reduced by two holes with the fifth and sixth omitted.

Mike Weaver (19 handicap) won with 33 points, followed by Mike Davidge (18-31), Malcolm Bradley (27-28), Roy Williams (19-27), Alan Wallcroft (22-27) and Roger Steade (25-27).
