IAN Goddard won Malvern United’s Roy Boustan Memorial Cup.
Having postponed the match for a week because the river Avon at Cropthorne was too high, the rescheduled meet found the river at a much lower level but surprisingly clear.
Although the weather was mild, the strong wind made conditions more difficult with lots of leaves falling into the river.
Consequently, the results were not as good as hoped as all competitors struggled to catch a few fish.
Fishing the end peg downstream, eventual winner Goddard managed to tempt several small chub, roach and perch to weigh in 3lbs 4oz.
Meanwhile, in the upstream section, Chris Loveridge had a better-sized chub and smaller ones to finish second with 2-14.
Bill Hartland was in third place with 2-0 of small fish.
Shaun Taylor managed 1-4 and Paul Lane 0-9.
There is a contest on Sunday on the river Severn at Holdfast, where massive bags of bream to 8lb and barbel to 12lb have been recorded lately.
The draw will be made at 8am.
