MALVERN Joggers held their annual awards ceremony at the town’s rugby club.

The event acknowledged the efforts of members throughout the year.

The awards included Champions League winners Daniel Badger and Julie Caseley in the men’s and women’s sections respectively.

Paula Smy was the most improved jogger, while Joggers’ jogger of the year was John Bryan.

The performances of the year went to Megan Judge and Ben Toon.

Special achievement of the year was claimed by Jayne Ackroyd and Laura Williams secured the most supportive jogger vote.

The special recognition award went to Steve Roode and the special award of the night went to Emma McCance.

Meanwhile, three joggers took part in the Mortimer Forest Trail Run over 8.7 miles.

NearlyAbout 60 more runners took part this year and the quality of runners was impressive.

The tough course included lots of mud and about 1,200 feet of ascent.

Sam Burnage clocked one hour 13 minutes 22 seconds, Ian Dyson 1.23.27 and Caseley 1.34.02.

A larger group of joggers took part in Evesham’s Race for Grace Festive 10-kilometre challenge.

A Santa-themed fun run offered an off-road route in around the lanes and orchards of Evesham United Football Club.

The charity aims to help the family of Grace Dolphin, who has acute myeloid leukaemia, to raise money.

Organisers want to send the youngster and her family to Disneyland and to sponsor a room in the Ronald McDonald House at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The event was well supported and organised.

It also offered children’s races over shorter distances making for a real family event.

Judge was the first woman overall in 44.46, while Badger clocked 45.00, Andrew Gallagher 52.08, Ian Walwyn 53.08 and Mark Cooling 54.34 to knock more than four minutes off his previous 10km personal best.

Amanda Duncan ran 56.36, Lucy Gallagher 56.55, McCance 57.27, Mike Spragg 58.37, Lynda Broadway 1.00.02, Roode 1.03.34, Emily Seyler 1.03.34, Viv Tolley 1.06.34 and Neil Humpage 1.10.33.
