LEDBURY swimmers returned to Wolverhampton for a second weekend of tough competition in the Worcester County Championships with impressive results.

Intent on building on their success from the previous weekend, club captains Ellie Ainsworth and Elliot Heath added to their medal tallies.

Heath bagged a gold, two silvers and two bronzes, while Ainsworth collected a silver in the 100-metre freestyle.

Also adding to his collection, Matt Thomas brought home three bronze medals in personal best times.

Eleven-year-old Emily Russell swam a 14-second PB in the eight-length backstroke race to be rewarded with a bronze.

Top-eight Ledbury finishers were Molly Schofield, Eve Watson, Tom Birley, Malachi Cashmore, William Kennedy and Eric Harris.

Head coach Duncan Loraine was pleased with the number of PBs achieved over the entire championships, resulting in a 70 per cent success rate.

There were improved displays from Sebastian Roffey (100m and 400m freestyle), Talesha Hunt (100m freestyle) and Daisy Wood (200m individual medley).

Robyn Munday, Lily Painter, Lydia Freeman, Lily Wood, Bradley Williams, Eleanor James and Caitlin Wild also put in strong performances.
