THE fourth of the Malvern Anglers’ series of Spring Cup matches attracted a good turn-out of participants on the Grebe pool at Holt Heath’s Top Barn Farm.

Milder weather conditions promised to improve catches from earlier matches, but a strong wind made it difficult from some pegs.

Results were varied as carp dominated the leading weights in some pegs, while there were fewer bream caught than expected.

New member Lee Harman took advantage of a favoured end peg to land a winning catch of 60lb 0oz of carp using pole-fished worm under a nearby bush.

The second-placed Frank Edwards, with 40-9, caught similar-sized carp, but used method feeder tactics and pellet bait.

Kevin Jackson had the biggest carp of the day and some other small fish on maggot to finish third with 31-8.

Richard Webster managed 31-4 and Sean Taylor 27-0.
