THE first Worcestershire Open Pro-Am was won by a Bransford team.

Assistant professional Tim Shephard, Ollie Walker, David Lewis and William Burgess, the first team out, made the most of the lighter conditions at Cleobury Mortimer.

They recorded 79 points in the nine-hole, 26-team challenge to win on count-back from Burlish Park ‘A’.

The amateurs won Titleist stand-bags and a county jumper, while Shepard took home £95.

Bransford’s Order Of Merit competition was close with six players returning nett scores of level or better than the course’s par 72.

Andy Lammas prevailed on count-back with 67 off six handicap to narrowly pip Paul Ramsden (75 gross 8 handicap 67 nett).

Graham Wallace managed 70-1=69, Lee Tully 92-21=71, Colin White 85-14=71 and Derek Lockett 96-24=72.

Teenager Walker (5 handicap) hit top form in the May Stableford with 43 points.

The 19-year-old was three ahead of Ian Bowman (7) in Division One with Wallace third and Rob Richards (11) fourth on 37.

Other leading scores were Rob Walker (25) on 38, Brian Taylor (22), Tony Lee (17) and Ian Hamilton (12) on 37 and John Knowles (23) and Rob Wetton (22) on 36.

Nearly £300 was raised towards captain John Phillips’ chosen charity, the Worcestershire Parent and Carers Community organisation, with the figure bumped up by a raffle and donation.

Bright, sunny conditions greeted the seniors’ May medal and Division One produced the lowest gross scores of 87 from Graham Wilks and Richard Steele.

Wilks’ 16 handicap saw him triumph with 71 nett, while Steele (13) finished third on 74 with Mike Davidge sandwiched between with 89-17=72.
