THE Worcestershire Golf Club have welcomed Paul Barker as their new club professional.

Originating from Harrogate in North Yorkshire, Barker started his career as a teaching professional with two years coaching training in the USA, under the tutelage of Gary Gilchrist and David Leadbetter.

He returned to take a position as assistant professional at Garforth, near Leeds, before moving to Worcestershire to The Vale, Bishampton, some five years ago.

Barker is enthusiastic about his new role and, with the aid of cutting-edge technology such as the latest GC2 launch monitor, seeks to develop a wide range of coaching facilities through his Paul Barker Golf Academy.

Junior development will be high on his list of priorities, as will men’s and ladies’ golf clinics, private lessons and tailored packages for members and visitors alike.

Barker is equally enthusiastic about the development of the retail side of his business and looks forward to offering a good service to the club’s members and visitors.

He took over from Richard Lewis, who was given a warm reception by members of the Malvern Wells club, when recently presented with gifts from both the club and their members in recognition of more than 17 years’ valued service.
