SQUALLY showers did little to dampen the enthusiasm of those participating in The Worcestershire’s annual men’s invitation meeting for the Hope Cup.
The enjoyable event provided another victory for one of the year’s most consistent performers, one-handicapper Tom Howells, playing with his guest Darren Jones (18 handicap) from Bransford.
In lifting the sought-after cup with 44 stableford points, they just edged out pairs specialist Carl Baylis (4) and guest Tony Saunders (6) from Worcester Golf and Country Club on count-back.
Club champion Peter Lupino and Pete Jepson came in third on 42, again on count-back from Paul Yorke and Graham Wallace, while fifth place went to Simon Hart and Ian Guest on 40.
