A LATE penalty from two-goal David Lawrence gave Welland Football Club a hard-fought 2-2 home draw against Andoversford in their Cheltenham League Division Two clash.
Welland had the perfect start when Lawrence ran on to a through-ball from Omar Elmougy and placed the ball under the ‘keeper.
Lawrence almost made it 2-0 moments later when his 25-yard volley struck a post.
Ben Pearson also hit the woodwork moments later from a difficult position.
Andoversford pulled level moments before half time when Welland’s offside trap was beaten.
The visitors then took the lead five minutes into the second half to put the pressure back on Welland.
The hosts continued to battle and work hard but had to wait until the final ten minutes to make it 2-2 when Craig Tommey beat his man and was pulled down in the box. Lawrence dispatched the penalty into the top corner to get his second and earn the point.
