THIRTY-five ladies played a Christmas three-ball alliance at The Worcestershire in Malvern Wells.

Conditions were wet underfoot but, despite being dark and gloomy overhead, the weather was mild enough for summer clothing.

A revised 12-hole format brought a winning score of 50 stableford points for the team of Pauline Belsham, Joan Haworth, who was returning from injury, and new member Jill Brierly.

Joyce Duncan, Hazel Cartledge and Pauline Savage finished runners-up on 48 with Jen Bishop, Ruth Scott and Kay Bromley third on 44.

Prizes were awarded to the top three in the ladies’ winter league series.

June Jones triumphed with two wins in the yellow bonus-ball rounds with Diane Meakin second and Chris Urry third.

On a bright, mild day, 36 golfers participated in a festive team scramble.

Playing in nine teams of four with sticky ground conditions, the scoring was tight with Mike and Yvonne Cawley and Andrew and Sally Dare winning with 65.7 nett.

Close behind were Nigel and Corinne Mills and Andy and April Wilding-Greene on 66.3 with Paul and Diane Meakin and Charles and Isabel Carmichael third on 67.5.

Fourth on 71.4 were Trevor and Brenda Cox, Alan Smith and Joyce Duncan.
