BRANSFORD’S Worcestershire champion Ollie Walker followed up a victory in his home club’s Hope Cup with success in the Stuart Smith Cup at Kidderminster.

Walker (3 handicap) won the scratch event after a thrilling 19th hole three-way play-off.

The Leigh Sinton 20-year-old shot a 71 in his early morning round and clinched the title with a birdie on the first play-off hole.

Meanwhile, Bransford members were dressed in their pink finery at the annual Breast Cancer Care charity fundraiser.

Sixty-six players took part and around £500 was raised.

Winners were the husband-and-wife team of Andy and Lesley Lammas and Wayne Harris with 88 points.

They were closely followed by Marshall Smart’s team on countback from Ted and Heather Buckett with David Harvey.

The three-ball stableford saw the best two scores to count.

On the par-three 11th, Eve Lynes buried a hole-in-one.

The annual Maureen Kemp Memorial Trophy event attracted an entry of 48 and raised just over £200 for the Stroke Association.

Pairs better-ball stableford winners were Pete Sheppard and Brian Ballard with 46 points, just one ahead of Graham Thomas and Pete Anthony.

Dave Ryall and Gerry Rebbeck, Anne and Ian Hamilton, Andy Falconer and Peter Appleton and Andy Lamb and Phil Spencer all managed 44.

Bransford kept their unbeaten record intact at Bewdley Pines in the Worcestershire Handicap League, winning 4-2.

S Crump and S Taylor won 5&3, S Bourne and C Eyers lost 3&4, A Kennedy and D Jones won 3&2, J Bourne and A Lammas won 4&3, R Richards and E Payne lost 2&3 and M Madden and J Keane won two-up.

In the June Medal, Marcus Tipton won Division One with 77 gross 10 handicap 67 nett ahead of Ian Bowman (75-5=70) and Gordon Jack (82-10=72).

Steve Collins (85-15=71) topped Division Two by seven shots followed by Stuart Wood (92-17=78) and Denis Atkins (101-17=84).

Harry Chadwick amassed 41 points to win the June stableford with Paul Ramsden (37) second and Andy Kennedy (36) third.

Barbara Ramsden (44) took Division Two by five points from Graham Ward (39) and Brian Ballard (38).

After losing their unbeaten tag at Cleobury Mortimer, Bransford seniors beat Sapey at home 6½-1½.

Rob Blake (15) and Roy Williams (20) won against Richard Fletcher (21) and Jeremy Holt (21) 4&2 but Alan Wallcroft (22) and Mike Davidge (18) lost to Chris Cale (17) and Gordon McBride (21) 3&2.

Ian Hamilton (12) and Dick Bettsworth (26) won against Rod Ellis (18) and John Ballard (21) one-up and Trevor Atkinson (13) and Mike Holmes (28) beat Tim Keates (15) and David Lindsay (20) 4&2.

Ferey Ghani (14) and Peter Harrison (24) saw off Mark Heason (13) and Gordon Archer (23) 6&5 and Ted Buckett (19) and Roger Clark (22) defeated John Garrad (15) and Roger Walker (24) 3&2.

Harry Godwin (17) and Neil Sheldon (22) halved against John Allan (18) and David Shilvock (20), while John Phillips (22) and Dave Miller (18) won against Colin Leake (20) and Alan Foster (25) 4&2.

The seniors’ June medal produced disappointing scoring despite sunny weather and favourable ground conditions.

Mike Weaver led Division One with 90-19=71 in front of Gerry Rebbeck (89-15=74) and Terry Martin (90-14=76).

Division Two went to Bill Bowen (96-22=74) ahead of Peter Appleton (96-22=74) and Sheldon (98-22=76).

Holmes (100-28=72) took Division Three followed by Rob Walker (101-24=77) and Lamb (104-26=78).
