THE Hereford and Worcester Schools County Track and Field Championships was held at Nunnery Wood.

Athletes from eight districts competed for medals and the title of county champion in Worcester.

They also hoped to impress the selectors and make the Mason Trophy on Saturday at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.

Danielle Hopkins, of The Chase School, Malvern, won the junior girls’ long jump and high jump with new records of 5.25 metres and 1.69 respectively.

Beth Lloyd, of Bromsgrove School, won the junior girls’ 100m in 13.3 seconds and the shot put with a throw of 9.08m.

School-mate Olivia Corcoran won the junior girls’ 75m hurdles (12.6s) and javelin (29.29m) and was second in the long jump (4.81m).

Tayla Mullins, of RSA Academy Arrowvale, Redditch, beat her own junior girls’ record from 2015 in the hammer, taking it from 19.23m to an incredible 32.95m.

The Wyre Forest district junior girls’ team set a new 4x100m relay record of 54.3 as did the junior boys in 53.4.

For the junior boys, Darian Moore, from Royal Grammar School Worcester, won the 100m (11.9s) and the 200m (24.7s).

Tristen Dunn, from Haybridge High School, Hagley, won the shot put (11.81m), discus (33.11m) and hammer (34.95m).

Sam Jones, of Catshill Middle, Bromsgrove, was second in the 100m and 200m in 12.2 and 24.9 respectively.

For the intermediate girls, Pershore High School’s Hannah Kenwright won the 100m (13.2s) and the 300m (43.2s).

Olivia Jones, from Heathfield School, Wolverley, took the high jump (1.60m) and 80m hurdles (13.1s) and was second in the long jump (4.51m).

Oliver Gould, from The De Montefort School, Evesham, won the intermediate boys’ 200m in 23.3 and placed second in the 100m in 11.8.

Dan Banks, of Worcester's Tudor Grange Academy, won the 100m for the fourth year in a row in 11.2.

Alex Griffiths, of John Kyrle, Ross-on-Wye, set a new hammer record with 55.60m.

Joel Khan, of Tudor Grange, set a new intermediate boys’ high jump record of 2.08m, improving the old one by 10cm.

His jump would have also beaten the senior boys’ record.

Sylvia Misztal, from Hereford Sixth Form College, won the senior girls’ 100m in 15.7 and the 400m hurdles (70.0). She also received medals in the 200m and shot put.

Candy Lockett, of Bromsgrove School, won the senior girls’ hammer with a new championship record of 41.85m.

Lockett also won the discus (27.88m) and placed second in both the shot put and javelin.

Alex Tocker, of Malvern College, performed well for his district, placing second in the 110m hurdles in 18.5 and second in the 400m.

A distance of 5.53m provided another second place in the senior boys’ long jump.
