BRANSFORD hosted the inaugural fundraising match between two Worcestershire golfing societies.
PHAGS (Prince Henry’s Amateur Golf Society, Evesham) beat PIGS (Pheasant Inn Golf Society, Welland) 5-2.
For many years, PHAGS have raised cash for Cancer Research UK but this is the first time such a match has taken place and it is now going to be an annual event.
Seven teams of two played in a four-ball better-ball competition.
PHAGS’ Matt Lloyd and Mike Thompson halved with Jeff Carlisle and Roy Williams, Clive Burkin and Ros Fenney won 6&4 against John Firth and Martin Linley, and Mike Weaver and Nick Hanby won 5&4 over Martine Bradford and John Godden.
Rosie Loh and Hasu Patel won two-up against Allan Bradford and Bob Rogers, Alan Roberts and James Nightingale lost 5&4 to Graham Holmes and John Phillips, Tom Pilling and Nick Dowling halved with Geoff Aston and Don Atkinson and Phill Bullas and Lee Fisher won one-up against Roy Mayo and Steve Endall.
Organiser Dave Miller said they donated £530 to Cancer Research UK as a result.
