WORCESTERSHIRE racehorse trainer David Dennis has reached his 100th winner milestone three years after obtaining his dual trainer’s licence.

Crank Em Up landed the Sun Bets Maiden Hurdle at Uttoxeter for owners Favourites Racing (Syndication) Ltd 12 under jockey Brian Hughes for the Hanley Swan handler to reach the notable landmark.

Favourites Racing were also responsible for Dennis’ first winner in August 2013 with Princess Caetani at Chepstow ridden by Oisin Murphy.

Dennis began his racing career as a professional jockey, riding more than 240 winners to victory during his 10 years in the saddle.

Since then he has set up his own training yard at Tyre Hill Stables.

Dennis is expanding his stables to accommodate a further 60 horses.

Some of his memorable achievements include Doctor Phoenix winning the Money Advice Group Graduation Chase at Haydock in 2015.

Dennis gained a four-timer between Huntingdon, Plumpton and Market Rasen with Maller Tree, Lucky Jim, Anginola and Wade Harper in April 2015 at the odds of 1,349-1.

One of the stable’s favourites Roman Flight made his first runner at Cheltenham a winning one when landing the giftofracing.co.uk Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle in 2014.

Roman Flight claiming the bet365 Open Handicap Chase at Newbury in November was Dennis’ biggest prize to date and he has now won more than £150,000 in prize money.

Reflecting on his 100th victory, he said: “To reach 100 winners in the first three years of training, with both National Hunt and Flat victories, gives me great satisfaction.

“The early years are always the most challenging in a sport as competitive as horse racing so I am extremely grateful for all of the support from our owners and for the hard work the team at the yard have put in.

“We are extremely excited about the future at Tyre Hill Stables as the new developments are nearly complete. The aim now is to continue to increase the number and quality of the horses in training and have many more winners in the year to come.”

The building of the new state-of-the-art 60-stable yard at Tyre Hill is virtually complete.

The development project will incorporate an additional eight-horse walker, modern wash-down bays and new and improved staff facilities in addition to light, airy loose boxes.

Meanwhile, Claines trainer Dr Richard Newland picked up a success at foggy Wincanton on Saturday..

Daryl Jacob rode 5-2 joint-favourite Catamaran Du Seuil in the closing Bathwick Tyres Bridgwater Novices’ Hurdle in Somerset.

Now with Newland having run over fences in France, the five-year-old looked above average in pulling five lengths clear of fellow market leader Anchor Man.
