WORCESTER fencer Abigail Watkins was crowned Welsh Youth League Shield under 15s winner.
The 15-year-old Royal Grammar School pupil from St John’s finished 15th out of 54 fencers in the Under 23s British Championships at Leon Paul Fencing Centre, London.
As well as being a Welsh youth champion, Watkins is now ranked seventh Great Britain under 20 junior, the highest in Wales, and 18th senior.
But the Malvern Hills Sword Fencing club member is unable to compete for GB at junior level until she turns 16.
