TALENTED teenager Robert Wilson produced an impressive performance in round two of Junior Rally Championship in Harlech.

The 14-year-old, from Ledbury, competing in his second rally, finished fifth overall and won his class which is for cars registered before 2003.

The cars used in the championship are standard 1.0 litre production vehicles, with the Peugeot 107 and its sibling the Citroen C1 the front runners due to their superior power to weight ratio.

But Wilson wrung every once out of performance out of his Nissan Micra to achieve a top-five finish.

The John Masefield High School student was joined by his father’s co-driver, Martin Haggett who has been competing for 30 years.

Wilson’s next event is on May 14 at Melbourne Airfield, near York, where he hopes to repeat the result.
