BIRTHDAY girl Molly Schofield and debutant Hazel Roe clinched medals at Ledbury and District Swimming Club’s gala.

Swimmers as young as six years old travelled from across the district to enter the competition at Malvern College.

Aiming to claim the title of club champion, the youngsters competed in the 50-metre breaststroke, 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke as well as a number of 25m novice races.

Ledbury trio Roe, competing in her first club gala, along with Arthur Zenihov and Tom Birley won all their events while Schofield marked her 13th birthday by winning two golds and a silver medal in her new age category.

Tom Stokes, head coach at Ledbury Swimming Club (LADASC), said: “What an amazing future our swimming club has.

“As well as our teenage swimmers who work incredibly hard and achieve greatness we also have a wealth of superb up and coming youngsters who are going to be stealing the headlines in the coming years.

“We work hard at Ledbury to nurture our talent and high quality coaching and enthusiasm is really paying off.”

The final club gala will be held in Malvern before the club moves back to their permanent home of Ledbury Swimming Pool following the refurbishment.

Stokes added: “I want to say a personal well done and thank you to all the swimmers, parents and volunteers who contributed to make this such a fantastic event.

“I also want to thank Malvern College for supporting our club whilst the building work at Ledbury Swimming Club continues.”
