IAN Goddard took the honours in Malvern Anglers’ John Perks Trophy match on the River Avon at Cropthorne.

Yet again the river was low and very clear due to the continuing dry period meaning prospects of good fishing were low.

All anglers struggled to catch, but using swimfeeder with maggots Goddard found four chub of just over half a pound each under the far bank to make up his winning weight of 3-0-0.

Meanwhile, Paul Lane using pole fished maggot lost a big bream but managed to land a smaller one to contribute to his second place weight of 2-8-0.

He finished just ahead of Dave Harris who worked hard on light tackle to catch a number of bleak and small chub to weigh 2-3-0.

Results: 1 Ian Goddard 3-00, 2 Paul Lane 2-8-0, 3 Dave Harris 2-3-0, 4 Pete Roberts 1-10-0, 5 Chris Loveridge 1-7-0, 6 Graham Rees 0-13-0, 7 Martin Elston 0-12-0, 8 Gary Kennett 0-10-0, 9 Steve Warren 0-9-0, 10 Lee Harman 0-5-0.
