MORE than 50 swimmers turned out for Ledbury Swimming Club’s third championships of the year.

Performances of note came from some of the younger swimmers who won medals.

Logan Langley-Waylan and Piper Stephenson showed promise for the future by both winning gold in the under 8s 25 m freestyle race.

Abi Urbanski and Arthur Zenihov also continued their fine form by clinching two golds each in the nine and 10-year-old 100m individual medley and 200m butterfly.

Harriet Cox also struck double gold in her 10 and 11-year-old girls age group with her sister, Felicity, hot on her heels also winning gold in in the under 10s 100m IM.

The older swimmers were not to be outshone though with Theo Bichard, Seb Roffey and Eve Watson all baggin two golds apiece.

Club captain Bryn Batten said: “What a fantastic event. It was exhilarating to watch the younger swimmers do so well.

“I was once one of those younger swimmers and it is good to know the future of the club is more secure than ever with such talent coming up through the ranks.

“I want to thank all the volunteers and coaches who make this club such a brilliant place to train and compete.”

The club are training towards a comprehensive programme of open meets in the autumn along with a summer swim camp during the school holidays and a Spanish swim camp in October.
