THREE pieces of silverware were up for grabs at The Worcestershire Golf Club in Malvern Wells when the men played in their Summer Meeting Medal.

Playing off a handicap of one, Tom Howells went out in 36 and back in 35 to take Division One and lift the Irish Cup.

His nett 70 included three birdies and 12 pars.

Following him in were Andy Perkins (handicap 11) on 71 and Andrew Longley (4) on 73.

A nett score of 71 saw Peter McNeil (13) take Division Two to win the Parker Vase.

Missing out on countback was Sam Macleod (15), who returned the same score, with Stuart Webb (16) third on 72.

Another good performance by Division Three’s Oliver Kitching (20) secured for him the Cotton Tankard.

With a nett 70, he was one ahead of Tony Cox (19) and two ahead of John Wright (20).

This week’s mid-week Stableford was won by the in-form Will Jones with 41 points, ahead of Tom Wood on 38 and Trevor Simmons on 36.

Anne Garner is proving a useful playing partner. After her success in the Ping 4BBB with Janet Long, she paired up this time with Penny Stevenson to win the Daily Mail Foursomes with 37 stableford points.

Close on their heels, and missing out on countback were Cathy Harris and Liz Gordon.

Two pairs contested third place, with Sandra Schofield and Jane Tromans easing out Liz Lewis and Betty Hakes, both on 36.

The winning pair go through to the first round draw of this long-established national competition.

The ladies friendly match squad notched up a good 2 ½ : 1 ½ win at Kidderminster GC.

An exceptional 6&5 win was recorded by Brenda Jones and Pauline Savage, while match captain Sue Boardman and Jenny Musson won one up and Pam Emery-Reynolds and Jill Brierly secured a hard-fought half.
