HATTIE Harnden produced a display of sheer grit and determination to win the UEC European Youth Mountain Bike Championships in Austria.

The talented Malvern rider, representing Ride for Charlie, tackled a series of tough races in Graz to take top spot ahead of Austria’s Tamara Wiedmann and Norway’s Helene Marie Fossesholm.

Evie Richards completed the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships series with a fine third at Val di Sole in Italy.

The 20-year-old from Malvern secured third overall in the under 23 women category after finishing in the top three of all five rounds.

Nearer to home, five Malvern Cycle Sport riders took on the Mean and Dirty MTB Enduro Series for Round One at Ebworth Park, Gloucestershire.

Jayden Randell finished first in Juvenile Male, Louis Brooks worked very hard to get top spot in Junior Men and Ryan Williamson secured third in Senior Men.

The club was also represented by Amanda Dawson and Terry Randell who competed in this discipline for the first time.

Elsewhere, a four-rider team from Malvern went to the Hope Valley in Derbyshire to tackle the Scott MTB Marathon Series.

Garth Thomas, David Williams and Matt Preston completed the 48km event and Leslie Dalley took on the full distance 65km event.
